Narendra Modi underlined on Friday that panchayat chiefs should identify a locally important welfare issue, work in tandem with a cluster of villages, and set a time frame for achieving the target for better results. He said the BJP workers should reach out to the people at the grassroots and move beyond working in silos to boost their achievements. «The post of a party worker never becomes obsolete.
The worker stays with us lifelong. Our veterans gave a lot of importance to the training process. Since we believe in strengthening the organisation, carrying on the established norms, dedication to the cause and having a community responsibility, we are able to march ahead with whatever job is given to us,» Modi said in a virtual address to the BJP Regional Panchayati Raj Council meeting being held at Daman.
He underlined that the stronger the base of a party, the more heights it will achieve. «Take up welfare projects which involve people and this can become a public movement,» the prime minister said. These drives should be identified locally as different areas have different priorities and concerns.
Occasions like anniversaries of important people can be used to launch such programmes. «If you do something in mission mode and take people along, you will achieve more with less effort. We have constructed 30,000 panchayat bhawans, which shows there is no dearth of resources.
But convergence and working in a planned manner is important,» Modi said. He also suggested that a cluster of 40-odd villages should be formed for setting a target and achieving it. One issue, for example, welfare of the girl child, should be identified and varied resources and manpower should be utilised to achieve the set aim.
