Seema Haider, the Pakistani woman who crossed over to India along with her four children after forming an online relationship with a youth from Greater Noida, has submitted a mercy petition to President Droupadi Murmu, requesting Indian citizenship. In the comprehensive 38-page petition, Seema's lawyer, AP Singh, referred to the case of Pakistani singer Adnan Sami, who was granted Indian citizenship after residing in India for an extended period. The petition highlighted that Seema should be granted Indian citizenship on similar grounds.
“Famous singer Adnan Sami has got citizenship of India due to his longtime stay in India. On the same ground, Seema should be given Indian citizenship,” the petition read. According to the petition, a government document indicated that approximately 4,000 individuals from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh had received Indian citizenship in the past six years.
Singh emphasized that Seema had been fully cooperative with all investigative agencies and was even willing to undergo a lie detector test to dispel allegations of her being a Pakistani spy.Seema illegally entered India in May with her four children to marry Sachin Meena, a resident of Greater Noida. The two had become friends while playing online game PUBG in 2019. Earlier, the police had arrested Seema for entering India illegally without a visa through Nepal.
The UP police's Anti-Terrorism Squad also questioned Seema last week. Seema has also requested to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to let her stay in India. «Please let me stay back in India with Sachin.
