AAP’s firebrand leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, who had been arrested by ED in the liquor policy case, has been released on bail by SC. In an interview with Atul Mathur, he talked about party’s leadership issue, campaign for LS elections and the liquor policy case
You have been released at a very critical time when campaigning for parliamentary polls is gathering pace. What is your prime responsibility now?
My priority will be to ensure victory of our candidates on the 23 seats where AAP is contesting. In Punjab, we are going solo, while in Delhi, we are contesting in alliance with Congress. In states where AAP is not contesting, we will help Congress and other alliance partners. We have a strong organisational presence in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa and Uttar Pradesh and our workers will campaign for the alliance candidates in these states. Our objective is very clear. The Govt which could not check inflation or provide employment and worked to help a few billionaires has to go. BJP is the biggest threat to democracy. It is busy toppling elected govts and arresting opposition leaders. It is giving shelter to corrupt leaders. We are going to take these issues to the electorate.
Some MLAs of your party have alleged that BJP offered them money and positions to cross over but could not give any proof of this. Do you think people will believe this?
