In 12 hours? No way. Job candidate’s bold refusal to CEO goes viral
Reddit to share his experience. According to him, the Founder and CEO of the company asked him to fill out a form and submit an assignment within «half a day» as part of the selection process. The unrealistic expectation left him unimpressed, prompting him to post a screenshot of the email exchange along with his response.
In his Reddit post, the candidate expressed his disbelief at the demands placed on him for such a senior position.
He pointed out that the submission deadline had initially been set for February 28 but was later edited to March 1. When he questioned the sudden change, the CEO claimed it was a typo and further extended the deadline to March 2. This back-and-forth, coupled with the demanding nature of the task, raised red flags for him.
“When I see such ridiculous expectations at the time of hiring, I shudder to imagine what the experience would be like if I became a full-time employee” he added.
Meanwhile, the screenshot read, “Thanks for reaching out. Request you to fill in the details in the below-mentioned Google Form and complete the assignment by not later than 1st March, EOD for us to proceed ahead with the next steps.” However, the candidate’s response was firm yet polite. He pushed back by stating, “If the expectation is for me to understand your business in great enough detail and suggest a viable 2 year GTM (go-to-market) plan to scale the business to 100cr, and to do this in half a day, then I don't think I'm good enough to be able to deliver that.
