enforcement agencies against its candidates or office bearers. A BJP spokesperson, however, denied that the Opposition was being targeted for political reasons.
Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) Sena's candidate for Mumbai North-West, Amol Kirtikar, has received a notice from Enforcement Directorate hours after he filed his nomination. The notice was in a case of 'providing substandard khichdi' to migrant workers after the Modi government's overnight nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Similarly, Nashik police served UBT Sena district chief Sudhakar Badgujar with an 'externment' notice. He has several cases against him and it is not clear why the notice was served on him. However, he was in the news for allegedly dancing in a farmhouse in 2016 with Salim Kutta, an aide of gangster Dawood Ibrahim convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. The notice was served hours after Shiv Sena minister Dada Bhuse said, during a campaign for Sena MP Hemant Godse, that CM Eknath Shinde should look into the Badgujar and Kutta issue. Godse is engaged in a tough fight with UBT Sena's Rajabhau Waje in Nashik.
Badgujar alleged the notice was to make sure he would not campaign for Waje. «There are several people who have criminal cases but only I have been served an externment notice. I will respond through my lawyer. We believe the people of the constituency will respond appropriately to this.»
