Haryana's political showdown revealed
The commanders meeting, which will commence in Gangtok on Thursday, is being held near the China border for the first time. The Army has already reoriented several units towards the China border, including a strike corps, as tensions peaked on the Line of Actual Control after the Galwan clash in 2020.
Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi will lead discussions on current and emerging security and administrative challenges and the future course for the Army with his senior most commanders. Key decisions are taken at the meeting through a collegiate system comprising Army commanders and senior officers.
The meeting takes place as there have been some signals for a peace agreement on the border with China, but the ground situation remains sensitive and tense. At a recent event, the Army chief said that the border remains sensitive with truth becoming the biggest casualty.
