According to eyewitness accounts, a group of Khalistani supporters, reportedly without tickets, gathered near the MCG entrance, waving flags and raising anti-India slogans. This act prompted a verbal altercation with Indian fans present at the scene. The situation quickly drew attention but remained limited to a heated exchange without further escalation.
Reacting to the incident, an Indian fan expressed disdain for the actions of the Khalistani supporters. «I don't think any limelight should be given to them… Whatever they do, I think it's not worth it. They are just 5-10 people who have been born and brought up here. They have never been to Punjab and doing this nonsense agenda for themselves. Let's just not give any limelight to them,» he said.
The confrontation took place as thousands of cricket enthusiasts gathered for the much-anticipated Test match, which has been pivotal in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. Despite the brief disruption outside the stadium, the match proceeded without incident inside the venue, with fans from both sides cheering their teams passionately.
