Young Yashasvi Jaiswal who is part of the India squad for the ongoing India-Australia Series apologised to his teammate Ruturaj Gaikwad for the unfortunate runout after he received the 'Man of the Match' award.
«It was my mistake. I went to him and said sorry.
(Marcus) Stoinis was between me, I was sure but then not sure. I made the wrong call. It was my mistake in the last game.
I accepted my mistake. Rutu bhai is so humble and very caring,» Yashasvi said during the post-match presentation.
«I accepted that it was a mistake and it happens. Rutu bhai was humble and said in the gym that next time we are running, we will take secure singles,» he said.
ndian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad suffered an unfortunate run out without facing a ball during the first T20I of the five-match series against Australia in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
Gaikwad's dismissal occurred due to a terrible mix-up with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the opening over as India were set a huge target of 209 runs.
But it was Jaiswal's call for the second run after completing the first one comfortably.
Along with mentioning his teammate, Jaiswal also remembered India's coach and skipper Suryakumar Yadav.
«It's really special for me. I was trying to play all my shots.
I was trying to be fearless as I was sure of my decisions,» said player-of-the-match Jaiswal during the post-match presentation.
The left-handed opener said head coach VVS Laxman and captain Suryakumar Yadav have backed him to play his style of cricket.
«I have been told by Surya bhai and VVS sir to go and play freely. I have been asked to express myself.
»For me, I think I can develop (as a cricketer) and I am not thinking about anything else. I am still learning," said Jaiswal.
