NEW DELHI—India’s economy grew 13.5% from April through June, but a weak job market and high inflation continue to restrain consumer spending and drag on the country’s economic recovery.
The gross domestic product released on Wednesday, which shows growth for the fiscal first quarter, benefited from a comparison to the same period last year, when the economy went into a virtual standstill as a devastating coronavirus wave pummeled the country.
