Indian Air Force (IAF) made a triumphant return from 'Exercise Bright Star' in Egypt over the weekend. This biennial multilateral tri-services exercise, hosted at the Cairo (West) Air Base in Egypt, proved to be an extraordinary opportunity for India to demonstrate its air power and strategic capabilities.
Group Captain Parijat Jha, the Commanding Officer of the 28 Squadron, piloted the MiG-29 fighter during this exercise. He shared his enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of India's participation.
Group Captain Jha remarked, «Exercise Bright Star is a multi-lateral, multi-national exercise which was conducted in Egypt. They hosted almost 34 countries (during the exercise). Army, Navy, and Air Force, all three services, were well represented in the exercise.
The entire experience was brilliant. It was a wonderful opportunity, not only for me but for my boys and girls who took part in the exercise.»
This exercise witnessed the involvement of nine countries, including India, in combat training and demonstrations. Group Captain Jha expressed his pride in participating, saying, «I feel really really proud.
It was a big opportunity for me, and I felt really really proud to have represented India and the Indian Air Force.»
The 'Exercise Bright Star' provided a global platform for India to display its air power and strategic reach. The exercise required Indian Air Force personnel to cover a considerable distance, approximately 4,300 kilometers, to reach Egypt, with a six-hour flight across the Arabian Sea and the deserts of Saudi Arabia.
