Three days ago, Vinaykiya voiced her thoughts on LinkedIn, addressing the return-to-office mandates, escalating living costs, and stagnant wages affecting Gen Z professionals.
“I will not be in the office four or five days a week. Full stop,” the 25-year-old declared in her LinkedIn post. According to her profile, she serves as a Global Influencer Strategy Manager at the Lego Group. She attributed her firm stance against in-office work to the soaring cost of living in the UK capital.
Despite holding what many would consider a stable and desirable job, she confessed that making ends meet each month remained a persistent struggle.
“I’m 25, working in what’s deemed a ‘good’ profession, residing in London, and still scrambling to cover my expenses every month. Owning a home? Probably never going to happen,” she stated.
Vinaykiya also cast doubt on the notion of career advancement, noting that senior positions were predominantly occupied by individuals who had no intention of stepping down anytime soon.
“Climbing the corporate ranks? Hardly an aspiration when leadership roles are held by people who aren’t going anywhere until they retire. And for what? To work even harder for marginal salary increases that fail to keep pace with inflation?” she questioned.
In addition to opposing rigid office attendance policies, Vinaykiya emphasized the reality of stagnant wages. She argued that Gen Z employees had been dealt an unfair hand regarding compensation and benefits.
