cause of death has been revealed!
According to a statement issued by the Coroner’s Court in London Inner South, the ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ hitmaker died from natural causes. The court also added that they will not involve themselves with the singer’s death henceforth.
Connor was found unresponsive at a home in London in July 2023.
At that time, a statement was issued by her website that the Coroner had yet to unravel a medical cause behind her death. “The decision whether an inquest will be needed will be decided when these results are known and submissions have been heard from the family," read the statement.
Earlier, in an interview with People, a Scotland Yard spokesperson claimed that the police do not suspect any foul play behind her death.
Often hailed as a child of controversy, Connor shot to fame in 1987 when her rendition of American pop icon Prince’s chartbuster ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ sold millions of copies worldwide. It also won her a Grammy Award.
However, she also became a much-polarised figure for her provocative statements both against Irish politics and the failings of the Roman Catholic Church.
She caused a huge uproar in 1992 when she tore up a picture of the then Pope John Paul II on the US chat show ‘Saturday Night Live’ to protest child abuse in the Church.
Connor is survived by three children.
It is believed that the singer’s mental health took a huge downturn when her son Shane died by suicide at the age of 17, last year.
Shortly after his death, she had to be hospitalised after a failed suicide attempt. “There is no point living without him," she wrote. «Everything I touch, I ruin.
I only stayed for him. And now he's gone. I've destroyed my family.
