Well, a Chinese zoo has found itself at the centre of such a weird controversy. The controversy started after a video of Hangzhou Zoo's star bear went viral. In the video, a black-coloured bear can be seen standing on its two hind legs while interacting with tourists by waving its paws.
However, a controversy was created after a person who posted the video on Twitter said that the bear was actually a person in costume. Many agreed with the observation, citing the bear's human-like movements and, most importantly, the pants-like folds around its rear when standing. «If you look at its legs seriously, they don’t look like bears at all.
If you say it’s human legs, I have no doubt that its legs are very long. I’ve watched a lot of videos of sun bears, and they are completely different,» said the Twitter user. The video, which was first posted on July 30, had 4.5 lakh views on Twitter at the time of writing this news.
However, many others claimed that it was indeed a bear. «People saying it's fake...look at it panting, look at its throat. No costume could do that.
Also, how can these people have never seen videos of bears standing on their hind legs?! Literally all bears do this!,» commented a Twitter user. «Some people are claiming that this bear is a man in a suite in China. I'm sorry I've seen the video a few times now, and without a doubt I can say that this bear is a REAL bear however it is malnourished to a point where it is hard to even look at because I feel so bad it,» wrote another.
