The development marks a continuation of efforts to secure the return of Israeli captives while negotiating a fragile ceasefire agreement.
The announcement was made by the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, according to The Jerusalem Post. The exact timing of the hostages' return though remains unclear.
Eli Sharabi was abducted on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched its large-scale attack on southern Israel. His wife and daughters were killed in their home, while he and his brother, Yossi, were taken captive. Later, Yossi was confirmed dead, and Hamas has yet to return his body.
Sharabi’s family shared their relief in a statement, emphasizing their unwavering support. They expressed their hope that he understands he is returning to a nation that stood by him—both in Israel and across the world—never forgetting, never giving up, and fighting tirelessly for his freedom. Now, they vow to stand by him as he begins his journey back to life.
