Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). “The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been relentlessly attacking Israel since Oct. 7 – on seven fronts – including direct attacks from Iranian soil,” the IDF stated, further emphasizing that Israel reserves “the right and the duty to respond” to protect its sovereignty and people.
The airstrikes led to powerful explosions across Tehran, with reports from Iranian state media confirming the sounds of blasts and noting that air defense systems had been deployed. Residents in Tehran reported at least seven explosions that shook the area.
“It was so loud, and the sky became red,” a local resident shared, describing the intensity of the strikes. The resident spoke anonymously, fearing repercussions. Media outlets in Iran attributed the explosions to defensive actions, explaining that air defense systems were targeting what they described as “hostile targets.”
Alongside the attacks in Iran, Syrian state media also reported that their air defenses had responded to “hostile targets,” indicating a wider regional response. As the Israel-Iran conflict continues to spill over, tensions have remained high across the Middle East, particularly since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7. The ongoing hostilities have reportedly involved multiple Iranian-backed groups operating across various fronts against Israel.
