Jack Black-Jason Momoa's Minecraft earns $18.4 million overseas in previews
A Minecraft Movie is off to a positive start at the box office. The movie has exceeded expectations and is on track to earn $90 to $100 million over its opening weekend.
As per Deadline, A Minecraft movie earned $18.4 million in 55 offshore markets on Thursday, excluding China. The Warner Bros. film earned $10.55 million in previews domestically on Thursday, April 3.
A Minecraft Movie: Box office prediction
The film was projected to earn $70-$80 million domestically in its first three days, but it now seems like it could cross that mark quite easily. Deadline has predicted that Minecraft could gross up to $100 million domestically.
Internationally, the movie could bring in at least $65 million, resulting in a worldwide opening of $135-$150 million, as per Variety.
A Minecraft Movie: International markets
The Jack Black-Jason Momoa starrer has made a mark in several international markets. In China, the movie opened on Friday at an estimated $6.6 million.The earnings on Friday, exceeded the entire weekend projection for the market. Minecraft managed to get the biggest opening day for a Hollywood movie this year. In the Middle East, Minecraft grossed $4.4M through Thursday. This included previews starting from Monday to coincide with Eid.

A Minecraft Movie has done well in Latin American and European markets as well. Mexico is its top performing market. The film grossed $1.9 million on Thursday, performing well ahead of titles like Sonic the Hedgehog, Kung Fu Panda 4, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In Germany, the film earned $1.7 million in previews, registering the best start for a Hollywood film this year.
