TMC has been winning Jadavpur since 2009, but the party has not given any of its MPs a second term, opting to field a new face each time. In 2019, its candidate Mimi Chakraborty secured the seat by a margin of 2.95 lakh votes, accounting for around 48 percent of the total votes polled, with over a third of those coming from Bhangore.
Two years later, TMC won six of the seven assembly segments under Jadavpur but lost Bhangore, where it had secured the most votes in 2019.
