Reliance Jio will launch its fixed wireless access offering — Jio AirFiber — on September 19, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said. While Jio, with 50 million 5G users, is on track to have a pan-India coverage of the next-gen technology by December 2023, the telco will be among the first globally to develop 6G capabilities, he said.
The launch of Jio AirFiber — coming shortly after rival Bharti Airtel commercially launched its own device — is expected to help expand Jio's addressable market over the next three years to over 200 million high-paying homes and premises, Ambani said, addressing shareholders of Jio's parent Reliance Industries at a virtual annual general meeting on Monday.

Yet, providing physical last-mile connectivity is a painstaking process in most parts of our country. This is where JioAirFiber, our fixed-wireless broadband offering, comes in,» Ambani said.
He said Jio has more than 450 million subscribers.
The pricing of the new offering is yet to be announced. The new service is expected to help the telco expand its connected premises to 150,000 connections per day, which is a 10-fold increase from 15,000 premises a day that optical fibre would allow, Ambani added.
He also highlighted Jio's 5G stack, which has been developed in-house with features like standalone 5G architecture, network slicing, carrier aggregation and AI/ML capabilities.
