Reliance Jio launched the Jio AirFiber on September 19 weeks after Bharti Airtel's introduction of India's inaugural wireless home.
With Jio AirFiber, the company promises to bring an integrated end-to-end solution for home entertainment, smart home services and high-speed broadband, across 8 metro cities.
Ambani explained during the 46th AGM that their extensive optical fiber network connects them to over 200 million locations. The Jio AirFiber devices are aimed at providing last-mile connectivity to many parts of India.
“Our extensive optical fibre presence puts us in close proximity to over 200 million premises. Yet, providing physical last-mile connectivity is a painstaking process in most parts of our country. This is where Jio AirFiber, our fixed-wireless broadband offering, comes in,” Ambani said at Reliance’s 46th AGM.
Both the products, Jio Fiber and Jio AirFiber are meant to provide users with seamless and fast broadband connectivity. However, the latter comes with wireless set up. AirFiber is a Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) which offers users broadband-like internet connectivity on the go.
Meanwhile, Jio Fiber comes with a whole deal which requires setup, additional modem, and wiring.
While Jio AirFiber can be available with existing 5G network (except for Jio AirFiber Max), JioFiber requires the service to be available in consumer’s region or area.
Jio AirFiber is similar to the wireless 4G dongles but with additional benefits such as broadband-like speed via 5G.
In terms of speed, Jio’s latest product offers speeds up to 1Gbps, while also giving users to choose from 30Mbps, 100Mbps, 150Mbps, 300Mbps, 500Mbps and 1Gbps plans.
Jio Fiber too offers speed up to
