JioBharat phones to have UPI feature, says chairman Akash Ambani during 46th AGM
Jio chairman Akash Ambani on Monday said that the JioBharat phones will now a UPI feature. While making the announcement at the 46th annual general meeting, Ambani said, «JioBharat phone is a gateway to digital independence for those who cannot afford smartphones.»

Also, small merchants can now accept UPI payments through Jio Bharat, transforming grassroot commerce and empowering small businesses,» said a company official.
According to the company officials, UPI integration will streamline direct benefit transfer from the government and will enable citizens to receive government support directly, with easy balance checks and real-time notifications via UPI.

Ahead of the AGM, some media reports had suggested that two new Jio smartphones have been spotted on Bureau of Standards (BIS) website and it is being speculated that announcements for the same may be made at the event.
