performance at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, Justin Timberlake offered a prelude before singing "Cry Me a River," a song widely speculated to be about his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears. In a fan-captured TikTok video, Timberlake made it clear he intended no disrespect with the song choice.
The track, released in the same year Timberlake and Spears ended their relationship, raised eyebrows due to its music video featuring a woman who bore a striking resemblance to the «Toxic» singer. In the song, Timberlake sings, «You don’t have to say, what you did / I already know, I found out from him.»
In her memoir, «The Woman in Me,» Spears acknowledged cheating on Timberlake during their relationship, recounting an incident with choreographer Wade Robson. Despite the infidelity, she claimed Timberlake forgave her, only for the song to later portray her negatively.
Spears expressed frustration in her book, stating, «I felt there was no way at the time to tell my side of the story. I couldn’t explain, because I knew no one would take my side once Justin had convinced the world of his version.»
The singer also alleged that Timberlake cheated on her multiple times with another unnamed celebrity. In her memoir, she revealed details about their three-year relationship, including an abortion and Timberlake's reluctance to become a father.
Following the revelations in Spears' book, Timberlake faced backlash, prompting him to temporarily disable some Instagram comments. Despite this, he recently resurfaced in the public eye, taking a trip to Mexico with his wife, Jessica Biel, and their children.
