Junior Doctors' Front (WBJDF) will take a decision on whether they need to resume their 'cease work' agitation after the Supreme Court hearing of RG Kar rape and murder case on Monday. This decision came after three doctors and three nurses were assaulted following the death of a patient at Sagore Dutta Hospital in North 24 Parganas district on Friday night. The Sagore Dutta Hospital medical students have already started 'cease work', following the attack.
Junior doctor Aniket Mahato said, «After the SC hearing tomorrow, we have called for a cease work but it will also depend on the SC order. The government should give us basic facilities».
Another doctor Debasish Halder said: «We will start cease work again and a more vehement protest.»
«There were security personnel in the hospital but they were silent spectators. There has to be a proper SoP,» a protesting doctor in Sagore Dutta said.
«The state government has totally failed in providing us safety and security, and that is the reason the attack took place in Sagore Dutta Hospital,» a WBJDF representative said.
