Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ coming to big screens next year! Check release date
Produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana Ranaut under the Manikarnika Films banner, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, Bhumika Chawla, and others, with Kangana Ranaut herself taking on a pivotal role. She will be stepping into the shoes of India's former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The music for Emergency has been composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar. Last month, Kangana announced that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had finally approved the film for release. In an October 17 post on X, she shared the news, expressing gratitude to her fans and supporters for their unwavering encouragement.
The CBFC passed the film with a U/A certificate after requiring approximately 13 edits and alterations. These included the removal of certain violent scenes and the replacement of a reference to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as «sant» or «saint» in a dialogue. These changes followed complaints from several Sikh groups, who argued that the portrayal of their community in the film was unfair. The filmmakers complied with the revisions to secure the necessary clearance for theatrical release.
Sources previously told India Today Digital that the makers plan to release Emergency after the Punjab elections in November.
