Rapper Kanye West was in the news recently for listing his Malibu beach house property for sale for a sum of $12o million. The property lacked basic amenities such as appliances, electricity, and even windows and therefore many hesitated to buy the same.
Moreover, a lawsuit has been filed against him for the uninhabitable house’s less-than-great restructuring.
In the year 2021, Kanye West bought the Malibu beach property known by the name “Zero Edge” spread across 4 acres, for $57 million. Builder Tom Donoghue was then hired by him for a flamboyant redesign of the entire house with one centre to be transformed into a space for meditation, or personal space.
However, the relations between Donoghue and West turned sour, and legal action was taken against the contractor for poor quality work and damage to the home. In return, Donoghue took legal action against West for non-paid invoices, amounting to nearly $1 million, post his sudden discharge from the unusual project.
The rapper made news in the real estate sector by the listing of Zero Edge for a huge sum of $120 million, raising concerns in the industry given the property’s condition.
As observed from the listing pictures, the home is intrinsically an impoverished shell that lacks windows, kitchen appliances, bathrooms, and electricity. One picture shows an untidy floor area.
Despite its uninhabitable conditions, West is confident of fetching an eight-figure pay for the same. However, there is skepticism surrounding the same because of the sky-high price tag and its unlivable conditions.
