The high-profile names include that of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah and former BJP national general secretary CT Ravi.
Dr Yathindra had represented Varuna in the previous assembly, and gave up the seat in favour of his father Siddaramaiah in the assembly polls, last year. The MLC post has come as a compensation to him.
Ravi had lost to the Congress in Chikmagalur last year, and had been without a post either in the party or in the legislature, since then. He belongs to the Vokkaliga community and had been trying hard to stage a comeback.
