Kerala government has announced that it will consider the absence of government employees participating in Wednesday's one-day strike as unauthorised and deduct one day's pay from their February salary, a TOI report stated.
A group of state government employees, supported by opposition employee unions, has decided to go on strike on Wednesday. They are protesting against the delay in receiving dearness allowance arrears and other benefits.
The government's decision regarding unauthorised absence was issued by the general administration department.
According to the order, no leave will be granted to employees on the day of the strike, except in case of emergencies or unavoidable situations. Employees who apply for medical leave on that day must provide a medical certificate signed and sealed by a government doctor.
If the department head suspects the authenticity of the medical certificate, the employee will be required to appear before a medical board.
The order also emphasizes the prompt disposal of leave applications. Temporary employees who are absent without permission on the day of the strike will face termination.
