Kerala reports first case of Mpox, a day after patient suspected to be infected with virus admitted in Malappuram
Kerala from the UAE last week has been diagnosed with Mpox on Wednesday, a disease caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV).
On Monday, the 38-year-old individual was admitted to the government medical college hospital in Manjeri, Malappuram after exhibiting symptoms associated with the illness.
Health Minister Veena George confirmed on Wednesday that samples taken from the patient were tested at the virology lab at the government medical college hospital in Kozhikode.
She stated the importance of seeking medical attention for anyone returning from abroad who shows symptoms of Mpox.
«It is crucial that all those who return from abroad seek treatment if they develop Mpox symptoms,» said George.
