Kevin Costner and his wife of nearly twenty years, Christine Baumgartner, are officially divorced.
The judgment, entered in Santa Barbara County court, signifies the end of their marriage, rendering both Costner and Baumgartner single as of the preceding Friday. The divorce comes nine months after Baumgartner initially filed for dissolution.
Following their separation, Costner and Baumgartner engaged in legal disputes over child custody and support payments, initially appearing bound for a contentious trial. However, they reached a settlement agreement in September, averting the need for further litigation.
Under the terms of the agreement, the former couple will share joint custody of their sons, aged 16 and 15, as well as their 13-year-old daughter. In September, a judge ruled that Costner would pay approximately $63,000 per month in child support, a figure significantly lower than the $175,000 per month initially sought by Baumgartner.
Costner, aged 69, and Baumgartner, aged 48, began their relationship in 1998 and exchanged vows at Costner's Colorado ranch in 2004. This marriage marked Costner's second, the acclaimed actor having previously won Oscars and Emmys for his work in TV's «Yellowstone» and films such as «Dances With Wolves,» «The Bodyguard,» and «Bull Durham.»
Beyond his marriage to Baumgartner, Costner has four adult children from prior relationships.
