Utility Vehicles (UVs) slated for 2024. These highly anticipated vehicles are the fourth-generation Kia Carnival and the Kia EV9 electric SUV, reported India Cars News. Both models were introduced to the public at this year's Auto Expo.
The global version of the EV9 offers three powertrain choices, including a 76.1kWh battery paired with a rear-wheel-drive electric motor, a 99.8kWh battery with rear-wheel drive, and a 99.8kWh battery with all-wheel drive utilizing two electric motors. However, it is worth noting that the EV9 will have limited availability as a completely built-up (CBU) unit specifically for the Indian market, adds the report. As per the report, Kia India has set its sights on a significant increase in its sales network.
The company aims to establish over 600 touchpoints by 2028, in addition to the existing 300 showrooms spread across the country. This strategic move reflects Kia's commitment to expanding its reach and ensuring convenient access to its vehicles for customers throughout India. The report further highlights that under its Kia 2.0 strategy for India, the Korean automaker is set to introduce two electric vehicles by 2025.
These EVs will be manufactured locally at Kia's facility located in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur. In line with this plan, Kia had previously disclosed an investment of ₹2,000 crore towards research and development, manufacturing, and infrastructure development for its electric vehicles. With ambitious goals, Kia aims to secure a substantial market share of around 20-25% in the electric vehicle market by the year 2030.
