Rohit Sharma and batting prodigy Virat Kohli still have the fire to light up the field with their extraordinary fielding abilities, according to cricket icon Sunil Gavaskar.
In the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, where India advanced to the final but lost to Australia for the title, Gavaskar also praised Virat's outstanding performance.
“For the last 18 months, Virat Kohli has been playing really brilliantly. He performed impressively in the ODI World Cup as well.
Therefore, his batting ability in limited-overs cricket should not be contested. The fact that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are still outstanding fielders is a major one,” Gavaskar continued.
Around the age of 35 to 36, you may start to slow down and lose some of your throwing velocity.
So, while establishing the field, there are arguments over where to keep you. These two are still excellent fielders, so that won't be an issue.
They will not only have experience in the locker room but also make an impact on the field. Gavaskar continued, «We don't know if Rohit will be captain, but whatever the situation, any captain will surely benefit from that.», he added
With only a few months remaining, India will try to win the T20 World Cup after missing out on a significant opportunity to capture an ICC title at home.
The previous T20 World Cup victory for India was in 2007 while Mahendra Singh Dhoni was captain.
Gavaskar thinks that the rise of the game's shortest format in India was greatly aided by the country's victory in the T20 World Cup, which was captained by Dhoni.
