Telangana Minister Konda Surekha ignited a political controversy on Wednesday after she blamed BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) for the divorce of Tollywood actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Her remarks quickly escalated into a political storm, drawing sharp criticism from both the political and film industries.
Reacting to the allegations, KTR sent a legal notice to the Telangana Environment Minister, demanding a public apology within 24 hours. He warned that failure to retract her statements could lead to legal action, including potential criminal charges.
In the legal notice, KTR stated, «Just for political mileage, you used my name and allegations. You are even resorting to character assassination of women film actors. Being a minister, you abused your position.» He also accused Surekha of deliberately trying to tarnish his reputation with these baseless allegations.
Veteran Tollywood actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya's father, also condemned the minister’s comments, calling them completely false. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Nagarjuna wrote, «As a woman in a responsible position, your comments and accusations against our family are completely irrelevant and false.» He urged the minister to withdraw her statement immediately.
Nagarjuna further added, «I strongly condemn the comments of the minister. Don't use the lives of movie stars who stay away from politics to criticize your opponents. Please respect other people's privacy. I am condemning the statement in the strongest
