KVS Manian, earlier today, stepped down as the Joint MD of Kotak Mahindra Bank and is now likely to join Federal Bank, according to reports. At the time of the announcement, Manian said that he was tendering his resignation from Kotak Mahindra Bank to pursue other opportunities in the financial services sector that he is currently exploring.
Manian also stepped down from his position on the board of the bank.
Manian had been with the Kotak Group for a long time and played key roles in taking forward the group's success, and foray into various financial services business.
An electrical engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) — Varanasi, Manian joined the bank in 1995 from Nelco, a Tata Group company. He started with the compliance function and later moved on to corporate finance and retail loans. He has played a vital role in Kotak's transformation from an NBFC to a bank, where he managed a team working on viability, decision making and structuring of the banking business as a project.
Manian was first appointed as the bank's whole-time director in November 2019.
