L2: Empuraan box office report - Mohanlal’s film inches closer to beating Manjummel Boys' record
Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan has been marching towards success since its release on March 27, setting record after record. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film has collected over Rs 100 crore (gross) at the Indian box office, becoming only the fourth Malayalam movie to achieve this feat.
The movie is also inching closer to Manjummel Boys’ global box office total to be the biggest Malayalam grosser of all time, as per industry tracker Sacnlik. Manjummel Boys had grossed Rs 241 crore worldwide. Empuraan has earned Rs 236 crore till date and is likely to overtake Manjummel Boys soon.

The movie has managed to earn Rs 91.51 crore (net) in India in nine days. The movie collected Rs 2.9 crore on April 4, Friday. This was a fall of 25.64 percent in earnings compared to Thursday.
However, with the weekend here, Empuraan could regain some momentum at the box office. Apart from Malayalam, the film, sequel to the 2019 hit Lucifer, was also released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

The actioner recorded the biggest opening in India for a Malayalam movie to date, collecting Rs 21 crore on its first day. Even before its release, Empuraan achieved a milestone in terms of advance ticket sales. According to a tweet by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the action drama registered the sale of over 96,000 tickets on BookMyShow just one hour after advance bookings opened. The film beat blockbusters like Pathaan, Leo, Jawan and Kalki 2898 AD to achieve this record.
