According to data from Layoffs.fyi, a layoff-tracking website, a total of 2,62,595 employees were laid off last year by 1,187 tech companies. So far in January, 91 tech companies have already fired 24,564 employees.
Salesforce on Friday fired about 700 employees, becoming the latest company to take such measures this year.

Salesforce: Salesforce is laying off about 700 employees, or roughly 1% of its global workforce, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, in the latest round of job cuts to hit the tech industry.
Google: Alphabet’s Google islaying off hundreds of staff working on its digital assistant, hardware and engineering teams, the company said. Meanwhile, CEO Sundar Pichai told employees in an internal memo that Google will reportedly sack more employees in the current calendar year. Pichai told his staff that the job cuts will focus «on removing layers to simplify execution and drive velocity in some areas». X Lab, Alphabet’s division for developing new technology, laying off dozens of workers and turning to outside investors for funding. Google will also cut 100 employees at its video platform YouTube.

eBay: eBay Inc will cut about 1,000 roles, or an estimated 9% of
