Candidates are displaying their political lineages quite openly. At the entry gate of its election office in Jhunjhunu assembly seat, the Congress has displayed the photographs of the state transport and safety minister Brijendra Singh Ola and his father, the late Sis Ram Ola, who was once a former union minister, in its banner.
While Sis Ram Ola was a five-term MP from Jhunjhunu seat and was an MLA several times, his son Brijendra Ola is now seeking his fourth consecutive term as MLA. BJP could win this seat only once in 2003.
BJP has fielded a young candidate, Nisith Bablu, against him. Bablu was also present in the fray as an independent candidate in the 2018 assembly polls.
Meanwhile, Rita, the daughter of Congress' prominent Jat leader, the late Ramnarayan Choudhari, is seeking a second consecutive term in Mandawa. Former minister of the Rajasthan government, Ramnarayan Choudhary, was elected to the state assembly seven terms, and it shows that the Choudhary family has a grip over the voters in Mandawa.
In the 2018 assembly polls, Rita was defeated by BJP nominee Narendra Kumar in Mandawa. Later, Narendra was elected to the Lok Sabha and in the by-election to the Mandawa seat 2019, the Congress snatched this seat from the BJP. Rita tasted her first victory in this seat.
