Manohar Lal Khattar's government in Haryana over violence in several districts of the state, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati stated that «law and order situation has completely collapsed like in Manipur.» «Such communal incidents are unfortunate. The law and order situation in Haryana has completely collapsed much like in Manipur. Along with that, the state's intelligence system has also failed, which is unfortunate and worrisome,» the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo said.
Talking to reporters in Delhi, the BSP chief said, «In Haryana, the incitement of riots and its spread into parts of Gurugram without any constraint, triggering of violence and huge loss of public property and religious places prove the failure of law and order in Haryana just like Manipur.» Violence had broken out between two groups on July 31 in Haryana's Nuh district, on Monday in Nuh that claimed the lives of six people including two Home Guards. Following this, the security in the districts adjoining Nuh — Faridabad, Palwal, and Gurugram-- were strengthened. On Tuesday, fresh violence was reported from several other districts in Haryana.
There was instances of violence in Gurugram's Badshahpur and on Sohna road. Haryana Chief Minister Khattar on Wednesday said that total of 116 people have been arrested in connection with the Nuh violence. «Six people including two Home Guards and four civilians have died in the incident.
116 people have been arrested till now. They have been taken on remand. Those found guilty will not be spared.
We are committed to the safety of the public,» Khattar said. «The overall situation in the state is normal. Appeal to the public to maintain peace, calm and brotherhood,» the Haryana chief minister said.
