Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Congress party, in its initial list, has disclosed the candidates for seven out of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka ahead of the forthcoming general elections. Prior to the announcement, KPCC president and deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar indicated that the party had submitted 14 names for clearance from the high command. Notable figures in the list include D K Suresh, the two-time MP and brother of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is set to contest from Bengaluru Rural for the third time.
Another candidate in focus is former Tumakur MP SP Muddahanumegowda, who recently returned to Congress from BJP. Geetha Shivarajkumar, sister of Karnataka's Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, will be contesting from Shivamogga. Geetha, who ran unsuccessfully from Shivamogga in 2019 on a JD(S) ticket, will now contest with Congress support.
D K Suresh is expected to face tough competition in Bengaluru Rural, as both BJP and JD(S) are likely to join forces against him. From Tumakur, former district and sessions court judge Muddhanumegowda is a confirmed candidate, having re-entered Congress from BJP three months ago.
