London Underground workers and train drivers across the rail networks are gearing up for strikes in September and October. The strikes are part of an ongoing dispute over pay and working conditions, led by the RMT (Rail, Maritime and Transport union) and ASLEF (The Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen). ASLEF represents train drivers, while RMT represents a wide range of rail industry workers, including station staff and guards.
Who and When:
RMT members working on the London Underground are scheduled to strike on the following dates, affecting thousands of Tube staff:
ASLEF train drivers at rail networks across the country will also go on strike on these dates:
In addition to these strikes, ASLEF will impose an overtime ban on several days, affecting the UK rail network:
While the strike days will cause significant disruptions, the overtime bans will have a milder impact on rail services.
Rail Lines and Networks Affected:
London Underground: Tube services will be severely affected or halted completely on 4th October and 6th October, with no night tube service on the latter date. Disruptions before 8 am are expected the day after strikes on 5th and 7th October. The Elizabeth Line, London Overground, and tram services remain unaffected.
Avanti West Coast: Avanti West Coast won't operate any services on Saturday, 30th September, or Wednesday, 4th October. Customers with tickets for these days can claim full refunds or use their tickets on adjacent days.
