Long-serving Greenhill managing director Simon McConnell has jumped to Luminis Partners, Street Talk can reveal. This is the first time the corporate advisory firm has employed someone in Melbourne.

McConnell has an impressive resume including almost 14 years with New York-headquartered outfit Greenhill, four years as an executive director with Goldman Sachs and two years as a Lazard director. He’s well known to Luminis partners Ron Malek, Simon Mordant, Richard Marques and Jamie Garis, having worked with them at Luminis predecessor firm Caliburn.
McConnell has been seen on a range of local deals including IDP Educations’s shakeup of Education Australia’s 40 per cent ownership and acquisition of the $240 million British Council’s Indian IELTS business.
He was also across Cleanaway’s $500 million acquisition of Suez Australia assets and Corporate Travel Management’s acquisition of Travel & Transport and Helloworld’s corporate business.
