This election follows the end of the current term of the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and is expected to be a fiercely contested battle between two major coalitions: the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which includes Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar), and Congress, and the Maha Yuti Alliance, formed by the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), and NCP (Ajit Pawar).
As the election date approaches, the model code of conduct has come into effect, following the announcement by the Election Commission of India. The current assembly’s term concludes on January 5, 2025.
In Jharkhand, assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, with results released on November 23.
The state has 81 seats, divided among 44 General, 9 SC, and 28 ST constituencies, and is home to approximately 2.6 crore registered voters, including a significant number of women, young voters, and first-time voters. Among these voters, there are 3.67 lakh persons with disabilities, along with centenarians and third-gender individuals.
