Maharashtra violence: Clashes erupt, vehicles set ablaze, police injured over reports of burning of holy book
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Archit Chandak, the violence started due to some miscommunication. “The situation is under control now. We have a strong police presence. We appeal to everyone to stay calm and not engage in stone pelting,” he told ANI.
To control the situation, the police used tear gas and displayed a show of force. Several vehicles were set on fire, but the Fire Brigade quickly doused the flames. DCP Chandak himself suffered a minor leg injury during the violence.
Authorities have urged people not to believe in rumours and to maintain law and order. “We request everyone to support the police. Legal action is being taken against those involved,” DCP Chandak said.
