West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday urged the business community in Spain to invest in Bengal, referring to “skill” as the biggest “game changer” of the state and showcased tourism, manufacturing as potential investment sectors. She also highlighted good infrastructure, road and port connectivity, power availability and land bank in Bengal. The West Bengal government organized a business summit at Madrid in Spain.
“Skill is the game changer in Bengal.
It is number one in India. We are setting up the world's second largest power sector. We have good infrastructure, road and port connectivity.
West Bengal is the destination for tourism. We have a tourism hub in Sunderbans,” Banerjee said, adding “once Bengal was number one in the manufacturing industry.”
“I would urge you to come to Bengal and invest here… We are the number one destination in ease of doing business,” she added while addressing the business delegates in the summit.
“India is a democracy and it is our strength. We have so many states run by different political parties.
Unity and diversity is our origin. We believe in humanism, secularism, women’s empowerment and we love youth,” Banerjee said.
She mentioned that Spain and Bengal share similar cultural activities, football and other things. “Bengal is the cultural capital of India.
