According to a 22-year-old named Yash Acharya, he applied for the product design intern role at Zepto through LinkedIn. The story took an amusing twist when Acharya received an email suggesting he'd be a great fit for the «Delivery Boy (Mumbai) role at Zepto!» Astonished and amused, Acharya shared a screenshot of the email on his X (formerly Twitter) account with the caption, «Par maine to product designer ke liye apply kiya tha» (But I had applied for the product designer role).
The post quickly caught the attention of the Twitterverse, amassing over 95,000 views shortly after being shared on August 16. Meanwhile, Zepto's chief executive officer (CEO) Kaivalya Vohra, while scrolling through his X feed, stumbled upon this viral tweet.
Impressed by Acharya's wit, Vohra reached out to him and expressed interest in his resume and portfolio. The viral post triggered a chain reaction, prompting other X users to join in with their humorous comments.
One user shared, «Funny, because in my previous organisations, every designer in the team actually did deliveries to get the full experience.» Another user quipped, «If Dara Khosrowshahi (Uber CEO) can do it, so can you! But really...» In a playful tone, a different user mused, «Parents ko kaise samjhaoge ki Zepto mein product developer ho, unko tum Zepto btaoge unhe lgega delivery boy ki job lgi hai» (How will you explain to your parents that you're a product developer at Zepto? You'll tell them Zepto and they'll think you got a job as a delivery boy). «I just know that somewhere out there, a delivery boy received an email saying he's be a great fit for Product Designer Role and who knows? he would have killed it in the interview too!,» said another.
