Manipur government distributed one-time financial assistance to beneficiaries under Special Scheme for Education of Children of Labour Card Holders staying at Relief Camps.
The distribution programme which was held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Sunday was organized by Manipur Building and Other Construction worker’s Welfare Board. One-time financial assistance of a sum of Rs.
5000 was handed over to the beneficiaries by the Chief Minister.
After distributing the financial assistance, chief minister N. Biren Singh interacted with the beneficiaries who are currently staying at relief camps and listened to the grievances brought up by them.
The Chief Minister also informed that the Government is taking up all necessary measures for the welfare of the people affected by the recent violence occurred in the State.
Under the special scheme, one-time financial assistance of a sum of Rs.
5000 shall be provided for education of children to every family having valid labour card and staying in the relief camps set up by the Government of Manipur.
The ethnic violence has severely affected the children, according to the government of Manipur, there are 12,694 displaced children living in relief camps across the state, and out of them 100 are severely traumatized needing professional counselling.
