Manipur government on Friday approved to increase the allowance of Manipur Police Commandos and other state forces in vulnerable areas. The new session of the Manipur assembly will commence from February 28, the government said.
Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh announced the same on X, “The state Cabinet approved to increase the allowance for our brave Manipur Police Commando and other state forces in vulnerable areas. Effective immediately, the allowance for Manipur Police Commando will be increased by Rs 5,000, while the state forces in vulnerable areas will receive an increment of Rs 3,000.”
The cabinet meeting held on Friday also addressed the issue of providing ex-gratia to victims of violence, particularly focusing on individuals from central armed forces but who are not residing in the state. A new scheme was discussed to extend support to such individuals.
On the Village Defense Forces, the cabinet decided to extend their engagement until March 2025. Additionally, in recognition of the sacrifice made by Chingtham Ananda Singh, SDPO of Moreh, his son will be provided with a job of Assistant Sub Inspector, and considerations for a liberalised pension were discussed.
In a bid to provide relief to farmers from the recent agricultural distress, an approved amount of 18.91 crores for 3483 verified farmers has been allocated for this purpose and the tenants will get 80% of the share.
