Manipur police stated at least 10 bunkers were destroyed in last 24 hours. The police in a statement on Monday stated Situation is tense in some places with sporadic incident of firing and congregation of unruly mob during the last 24 hours. However, situation is normal in most districts.
It is reported in some media that there was a robbery at Axis Bank Churachandpur. However, preliminary report reveals it was not robbery but burglary. The bank was closed since 4th May, 2023 and it was opened today after more than two months.
It was found that after breaking the ventilator of the bathroom, some suspects entered the strong room of the bank through the bathroom and made a hole on the wall of the strong room. Proper investigation will be conducted after arrival of the Manager of the bank with the keys of the strong room. During the last 24 hours, State Police and Central forces conducted search operation in the vulnerable and fringe areas of both valley and hill districts.
A total of 10bunkers were destroyed by combined team of Manipur Police and Central Security Forces. In the intervening night of July 9 and 10 firing between armed miscreants were reported at Dampi range, Khoijumantabi, Langza, K. Geljang, K.
Songnung, Bethel. Apunlok, Kangchup foothills, Koutruk village areas. No casualty was reported.
Firing between suspected armed miscreants also took place in the Singda, Kadangband and Gelzang areas. The body of one person with bullet injuries was found in the Geljang hill range alongwith one Ml rifle. About 130 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police has detained 397 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State.
