Marathi actor Ravindra Mahajani has passed away at 77. The actor was found dead in his apartment at Ambi village in Maval Taluka near Talegaon Dabhade, Pune. According to a Times Of India report, Mahajani may have died three days ago.
His body was discovered after neighbours complained of a foul odour to the local police. “We received a call from the neighbours of the flat, where Mahajani was staying alone, informing us about a foul odour emanating from his house. We went to the spot and broke open the door of the flat, where he was found dead," a senior official of Talegaon Dabhade police station told TOI.
Mahajani’s mortal remains have been to the hospital for a post-mortem. Mahajani made his acting debut with the 1969 film ‘Saat Hindustani’. In a career spanning more than 50 years, he has acted in 19 films.
Some of his notable work includes ‘Mumbaicha Fauzdar’, ‘Zunj’, ‘Araam Haram Hai’, ‘Zoonj’, ‘Bolo He Chakradhari’ ‘Kalat Nakalat’, etc. He was last seen in the 2019 period drama ‘Panipat’ which was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. His son Gashmeer Mahajani is also an actor, who has appeared in shows like ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ and TV shows such as ‘Imlie’, ‘Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal’, and movies such as ‘Muskurake Dekh Zara’, ‘Mala Kahich Problem Nahi’, ‘Dharmaveer’ and others.
Some public figures took to Twitter to pay their last respects to the late actor. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde penned a heartfelt post for Mahajani. «Veteran Marathi actor Ravindra Mahajani, who ruled the hearts of the audience through his impressive acting skills, has passed away.
