As the world celebrates Apple's new smartphone and smartwatch line-up, businessman Harsh Mariwala took a page out of late techpreneur Steve Jobs's book to emphasise on the importance of asking.
The FMCG guru — who has created massive brands like Saffola and Parachute — took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share that the Apple founder has left us with «timeless wisdom» that people sometimes forget to think about.
Quoting a report by Inc Magazine, the Chairman of Marico said that Jobs once shared an invaluable lesson in a classic 1994 interview. «Most people never pick up the phone and call.
Most people never ask, and that's what separates the people who do things from the people who just dream about them,» Mariwala quoted Jobs's words in his tweet.
Talking about the 'power of asking', the business tycoon said that Jobs was just 12 when he courageously called Bill Hewlett, the co-founder of Hewlett-Packard, to ask for spare parts to build a frequency counter. «Not only did he get the parts, but he also secured a summer job at HP,» the 73-year-old's tweet read.
Mariwala said that this simple act taught Jobs a vital lesson — «be willing to ask for what you want.»
Moral of the story: If you want to achieve something, ask for whatever you need!
The businessman-turned-author said that fear often holds people back from seeking help or making requests in the business world.
