The US National Tsunami Warning Center reported that, while there was no tsunami threat to the US mainland, a tsunami advisory was issued for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The NTWC stated, «Based on all available data, there is a tsunami threat to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as sea level fluctuations and strong ocean currents could be a hazard along coasts, beaches, in harbours and in coastal waters.»
Authorities in several Caribbean nations and Honduras advised residents in coastal areas to take precautions.
