Miriam Margolyes has expressed her admiration for Matthew Perry, acknowledging him with affection a few weeks after she shared her «regret» about a question she posed to the renowned Friends star during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show.
Margolyes, known for her roles in ‘The Age of Innocence’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone,’ graced the BBC chat show in 2020 alongside the late Perry, who passed away on Saturday, October 28.
Also in attendance were British actor Gemma Arterton and musician Jack Savoretti.
While promoting a West End play, Perry found himself in an awkward situation when Margolyes shared an explicit anecdote, leaving him visibly uncomfortable. As laughter filled the audience, Perry confessed, «I genuinely can't recall a moment in my life when I felt more uneasy.»
In another surprising moment during the interview, Perry was taken aback when Margolyes admitted she had never watched ‘Friends’ because of a previous encounter with co-creator Marta Kauffman, whom she described as «a monster.»
Margolyes recently reflected on the chat show episode in her latest memoir, expressing, «Matthew anticipated a casual, superficial conversation, but I found myself delving deeper into my topic right away.»
However, there's one particular interaction Margolyes now regards with remorse: her question to Perry about his potential struggles with alcohol.
